Adding Master Menus

You can create centralized menus for individual site use. First, create one or more master menu plans. Then, release them to the sites you choose. Once sites receive the master menu, they can print the Menu report and post it in their center for staff and parents to see.

The master menu feature was designed to be used for multiple sites that are using the same menu, such as those with a central kitchen, to make menu planning easier. If an individual center has its own menu plan that differs from other sites, there is no need to create master menus. Your center can plan their own menus from their own account.

  1. From the menu to the left, click Menus/Attendance.

  2. Select Master Menu Calendar. The Master Menu Calendar page opens.

  3. Click the Menu Name drop-down menu and scroll to the Enter New Master Menu box.

  4. Click the Enter New Master Menu box and enter a name for the menu to create.

  5. Press Enter.

  6. Double-click the date on which the menu should be served.

  7. Click the meal type to expand the section. For example, if you're adding lunch, click Lunch.

  8. Use the drop-down menus in the Non-Infants and/or Infants section to select the components for this meal.

  9. When finished, click Save.

Assign and Send Master Menus

Once the Master Menu is built for the entire month, it needs to be assigned and sent to the site(s).

  1. From the menu to the left, click Menus/Attendance.

  2. Select Master Menu Calendar. The Master Menu Calendar page opens.

  3. In the top left corner, click the Menu Name drop-down menu and select the Master Menu you want to assign.

  4. In the top right corner, click the blue box that says Menu Actions.  Select Assign.

  5. Select the site(s) that will be assigned this Master Menu. Click Save.

  6. In the top right corner, click the blue box that says Menu Actions.  Select Send.

  7. A confirmation box pops up, click Yes.  Menus are assigned and sent to the sites and can now be viewed in each sites KidKare account.

Copy & Paste Shortcut for Cycle Menus

You can copy and paste menus on the Menu Calendar. This allows you to copy and paste menus to past and future days. When you paste a menu, the meal components are copied to the days you select. However, estimated attendance, estimated quantities, actual attendance, actual quantities served, and menu notes are not copied.

  1. From the menu to the left, click Menus/Attendance.

  2. Click Master Menu Calendar.

  3. Click Menu Actions in the top-right corner. Select copy.

  4. Select InfantsNon-Infants, or both.

  5. Click Multi-Day.

  6. In the From and To fields, select the master menu you are wanting to copy menu from and which menu you are copying them to.

    1. Copy & Paste within the same master menu to complete meal plans for future months

    2. Copy one master menu to another master menu if you have programs that have similar menus. Example: You have AtRisk Sites that serve PM Snack only.  You have additional centers that serve the same PM Snack plus additional meals.  Build the At-Risk Master Menu first, then copy and paste it to the center Master Menu so you don't have to build PM Snack twice.

  7. In the What Days Would You Like to Copy Your Menus From section, select the days you need to copy. Enter the first date in the first box, and enter the last date in the second box. You can also click  to select dates from a calendar.

  8. Click the Begin Pasting On box and enter the day on which to begin pasting your menus.  You can also click  to select dates from a calendar.

  9. Specify whether to skip weekends. Weekends are set to skip by default.

  10. Click Continue.

  11. At the confirmation prompt, review your selections, and click Copy Menus

When copying menus for an entire month to a new month, we recommend that you copy from and to the first Monday of each month to the last day of each month. We also recommend that you do not skip weekends, so the menus copy to the correct days.
