Activity Log & Messages - Parent View

Parachute allows your provider to send real time updates and messages to you about your child's day. 

Activity Log

The Activity Log is where you are able to view real time updates about your child's day sent to you by your provider. 
  • Notifications: When a new activity is logged by your provider you can receive notifications in multiple ways 
    • If you have Parachute downloaded to your mobile home screen (you can find instructions here), then you will receive a push notification whenever a new activity has been logged.

    • You can also choose to opt in or out of receiving text and email notifications. To update your preferences, go to the Settings section, click the button in the upper right corner, and select which types of notifications you’d like to receive—and whether you’d prefer them by email or text.

  • Comments & Likes: When you view the Activity Log you are able to comment and like posts. 

Comments and replies will be visible to all parents and guardians associated to the child
    • Comments: You can comment on an activity by clicking and entering text into the text box

      • After a comment is sent you have the option to delete it by clicking or tapping on your comment
    • Provider Replies: You can view a provider's reply to your comment by clicking the icon under the activity post
      • The number indicator will change depending on how many comments are on the log
      • You can continue to reply in the thread by clicking reply
    • Likes: Parents can react to a log by simply clicking the icon

Messages

As a parent you may send and receive messages from your Provider. You can access the Messages section by clicking Messages in the navigation bar. 

  • Notifications: When a new activity is logged by your provider you can receive notifications in multiple ways 
    • If you have Parachute downloaded to your mobile home screen (you can find instructions here), then you will receive a push notification whenever a new activity has been logged. 
    • You can also choose to opt in or out of receiving text and email notifications. To update your preferences, go to the Settings section, click the button in the upper right corner, and select which types of notifications you’d like to receive—and whether you’d prefer them by email or text.
  • View Messages: To access a specific message thread, simply click on the thread you wish to view. You can mark a message in a thread Unread by either selecting the message and clicking the Screenshot 2025-05-19 at 5.54.54 PM icon or by clicking   and selecting Mark As Unread
      • From here, you can use the filters at the top of the page to look at specific types of messages:
        • All: By default this option will be selected and you will be able to see all messages you have sent and received 
        • Unread: By selecting this option you will be able to view all message threads that contain a message in an Unread status
        • Groups: This option allows you to only view messages that have multiple parents included in the message thread 
        • Drafts: This allows you to view message threads that currently include an unsent message draft
        • Scheduled: Here you can view all messages that are scheduled to be sent at a later time 
    • Create New Message: As a parent you can create message thread with your Provider if that have not yet created one for you.
      • To create a new message click the  button in the upper right hand corner of the screen
      • Next, in the Message box type out the body of your message
      • You can format your message, add emoji's or upload files to your message by clicking on the icons at the bottom of the message box
      • To send the message immediately click Send
