This article will walk you through general attendance settings, as well as configuring Kiosk Check-In and Parent App Check-In/Out options. You have multiple options to set up attendance based on what works best for your home or center.
To configure your settings related to the Kiosk and Parent Check In process click on Settings in the left hand navigation panel then navigate to the Attendance section. Here you will see a number of different options that allow you to configure how parents check in, based on which method works best for you.
Kiosk Settings
To set up Kiosk Check-In, you must first enable one or both of the following options within the settings page:
- Enable Parent PIN – Requires parents to set up a PIN, which they will use during the check-in and check-out process for Kiosk and/or Parent app check in.
- Enable Parent Signatures – Allows parents to select their name and provide a signature during check-in and check-out.
Sending Parent Invites
When this feature is enabled for the first time, you will be prompted to send an invite to all contacts:
- Send Now – All contacts will receive an email invitation to set up their PIN and/or signature.
- Skip – If you select Skip you will need to manually send invites from each contact’s profile at a later time.
Note: To send the Pick Up PIN invite, the parent's profile must include an email address and have received the Parent Welcome email. Once the Pick Up PIN invite is sent, parents must log into the Parent Portal and complete the Check-In and Check-Out settings.
Mobile Check In Options
- Parent-Side Check-In - Allows parents to check in children through their mobile device.
- QR Code Check-In - Allows parents to scan a QR code with their mobile device, directing them to the Parent Portal app to check their child in and out.
Note: While both Parent-Side Check-In and QR Code Check-In offer contactless options, you can restrict parents from checking in and out without scanning the QR code by disabling the Parent-Side Check-In feature.
- Within the settings page you have the option to print the QR code, which can be posted throughout your home or center for convenience.
- Parents can also select the QR code link on the Kiosk and scan the code using their mobile phone. They will be directed to the Check In & Out page in the Parachute mobile app.
General Attendance Settings
These settings provide extra control over the kiosk experience:
- Default Check-Out Time – Allows you to set a default time that will mark all children who are currently still in a Checked In status as Checked Out.
- Kiosk Lock Screen PIN – Set a PIN to lock the screen, preventing unauthorized users from exiting the Kiosk screen and viewing the rest of the Parachute platform.
- Auto Kiosk Lock Screen – When this is enabled, the screen will automatically lock upon entering kiosk mode. To unlock, simply click the "Unlock" button at the upper right hand corner of your screen and enter in your Lock Pin.
Note: If you forget your pin, you can exit the Lock Screen by signing out of Parachute then logging back in and navigating to the Settings Section, where you can reset your Lock Pin by clicking "Edit Lock Pin".
Parent Profile Pick-Up Permissions
To allow parents to pick up a child, the Pick-Up Permission must be enabled in the parent's profile with the associated children.
- Navigate to the Contacts page.
- Select the Parent Profile card.
- Go to Profile Details and select Edit.
- In the Associated Children section, enable Authorized to Pick Up.
Parent App Settings
Once the Parent has received the Check In Invite they will need to go through the following steps to complete their Check In & Out settings:
To Register a Phone Number:
- Go to the Check In & Out settings page.
- Enter the phone number and confirm.
- A verification text will be sent—click the link in the message to verify the number.
Once the phone number is registered, the user can set up their E-Signature and Pick-Up PIN.
Setting Up an E-Signature:
- In the Check In & Out settings page, navigate to the E-Signature section and select Create.
- Sign the name in the Enter Signature field.
- Select Save.
Setting Up a Pick-Up PIN:
- In the Check In & Out settings page, navigate to the Pick-Up PIN section and select Create.
- Enter a 4-digit PIN.
- Select Continue.
- Re-enter the 4-digit PIN to confirm.
Checking In and Out with a Parent PIN
- Enter the registered phone number and click the Next button.
- Enter the 4-digit PIN and select Complete.
- Select the child to check in or out and confirm by clicking the appropriate Check In or Check Out button.
- A confirmation message will appear to confirm the check-in or check-out.
Checking In and Out with a Parent Signature
- Select the Enter Signature option.
- Choose the parent's name from the dropdown list (only parents with Pickup Permissions enabled will be displayed).
- Use the signature box to digitally sign and click Next.
- Select the child to check in or out and confirm by clicking the appropriate Check In or Check Out button.
- A confirmation message will appear to confirm the check-in or check-out.
Checking In and Out with a QR Code
- Select the QR Code link on the kiosk.
- Using your mobile device, scan the QR code to be directed to the Parent App check in and out page.
Parent App Check In
To configure this option, see Parent App Settings to setup.
Checking In and Out with the Parent App:
- Open the Parent Portal on your mobile device.
- Navigate to the Check In & Out page.
- Enter your 4-digit PIN or Signature and select Confirm.
- Choose the child you want to check in or out.
- Confirm by clicking the appropriate Check In or Check Out button.
- A confirmation message will appear to confirm the check-in or check-out.
Adding the App to the Home Screen:
Users can easily add the Parachute app to their mobile device's home screen for quick access.
On iOS:
- Open the Parachute app in your mobile browser.
- Tap the Share button.
- Scroll down and select Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add.
On Android
- Open the Parachute app in your mobile browser.
- Tap the Menu button (three dots in the top-right corner).
- Select Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add to confirm.
